Emptying the Humidor
By David Hogberg
I've often wondered exactly how severe is Congress's case of historical amnesia. In late 2005 we found out that many members of Congress clearly couldn't remember anything previous to 1980, as witnessed by their call for 1970s-type price controls on oil. But last week we learned that Congress's historical amnesia is much worse than anyone feared. Clearly it extends back to as recently as the early 1990s.
Nineteen-ninety was the dreadful year in which President George H.W. Bush abandoned his "Read my lips, no new taxes" pledge to cut a deal with Congressional Democrats to increase taxes. Among the new taxes created by that deal was an excise tax on "luxury items." This "luxury tax" was imposed on goods such as jewelry, furs, and yachts. It was subsequently repealed in 1993 after proving to be nothing short of an economic and policy disaster.
Unfortunately, Congress never bothered to consider that increasing the tax on these items, and thereby increasing the price of those items, might change the behavior of said rich people. (Indeed, many members of Congress stubbornly refuse to ever acknowledge that taxes ever affect behavior.) But said rich people had other ideas. If the price of jewelry, furs, and yachts suddenly increased, then maybe purchasing a winter home in Florida seemed like a much better deal. Or maybe those rich people would take a shopping trip to other parts of the world, where the price of jewelry, furs, and yachts were now much more competitive thanks to the U.S. Congress. Contiued

Hamas kindergarten graduation

"Jihad Bee" Calls for Child Martyrs on Hamas TV
The latest character on the children’s show Tomorrow’s Pioneers on Hamas’s Al-Aqsa television station is Nahool the Bee, who encourages young children to follow “[the path] of Jihad” and to become "Jihad warriors" in order to "liberate Al-Aqsa from the filth of the criminal Jews."
Hamas kindergarten graduation

Recently, footage was shown on Hamas TV of Arab children graduating from a kindergarten in Gaza. In the video, the children are seen marching in formation while holding machine guns and then dropping to the floor, crawling on their bellies and vowing to become terrorists when they grow up.

Congress Sinks To Worst Rating Ever / Sawyer

Worst Congress Ever Bush 34, Congressional Democrats 14
The new Reuters poll is out and Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid have pulled an upset: They have managed to make George Walker Bush twice as popular as Congress. On the day he left office! SOURCE
Sawyer Learns The Truth Hurts
On Good Morning America last Thursday, Diane Sawyer showed the isolation liberal media types live in. In a personal aside to a story about people who avoid jury duty, she said: “You know, I wanted to sit on a jury once and I was taken off the jury. And the judge said to me, ‘Can, you know, can you tell the truth and be fair?’ And I said, ‘That’s what journalists do.’
And everybody in the courtroom laughed.
It was the most hurtful moment I think I’ve ever had.”

One-Child ‘Terror Campaign’ Continues in China
Riots have broken out in a number of Chinese towns in protest over the Communist government’s policy of limiting families to one child — a campaign that has included the forced termination of late-term pregnancies.

Steven Mosher, president of the pro-life Population Research Institute, said that in 1979-80, he witnessed local officials in Guangdong province arresting hundreds of pregnant women and aborting their fetuses against their will — even if they were already in labor. LifeSite.net
Did the Socialist anti-American Liberal Democrats get their ideas concerning partial birth abortion from China?

Clinton Hypocrisy Pardon Me But,
Anybody who watched presidential spokesman Tony Snow face a pack of snarling White House press corps correspondents following President Bush’s commutation of Scooter Libby’s prison sentence will understand the meaning of the word hypocrisy
These are the very same media hacks who turned a blind eye to Clintonista Sandy Berger stuffing national security documents in his socks, stealing them from the National Archives and destroying them and then getting nothing more in the way of punishment than a mere slap on the wrist.
Then there was Mrs. Hillary Clinton, who had the gall to issue a statement saying, "Today's decision is yet another example that this Administration simply considers itself above the law. This case arose from the Administration's politicization of national security intelligence and its efforts to punish those who spoke out against its policies. Four years into the Iraq war, Americans are still living with the consequences of this White House's efforts to quell dissent. This commutation sends the clear signal that in this Administration, cronyism and ideology trump competence and justice."
Said Tony Snow: "I don't know what Arkansan is for chutzpah, but this is a gigantic case of it."
Here, after all, is the wife of a president who all but peddled pardons to an assortment of felons and miscreants including one malodorous fugitive from justice who had renounced his American citizenship.

The Clintons' Cronyism Circus
Former President Bill Clinton and Sen. Hillary Clinton are absolutely outraged that President Bush granted executive clemency to Scooter Libby, recently convicted of making false statements under oath.
They obviously believe that Libby should serve his 30 month sentence.
Does that mean that they now think that perjurers should go to jail? Or have they simply forgotten about Bill Clinton's own plea agreement in the last hours of his presidency — for making false statements under oath?
Some people would call that perjury.

Who's Really 'Sicko'?

We all know the answer to that question.
The anti-American Socialist you see on the right.
Lindsay McCreith, would have had to wait for four months just to get an MRI, and then months more to see a neurologist for his malignant brain tumor. Instead, frustrated and ill, the retired auto-body shop owner traveled to Buffalo, N.Y., for a lifesaving surgery. Now he's suing for the right to opt out of Canada's government-run health care, which he considers dangerous.
Is this what you want?
A Short Course In Brain Surgery
Liberal Democrats aspiring to be President want Socialized Medicine. Why not? That's what liberal Democrats are, Socialists.
Socialism is a liberal PC word for Communism.
"Political Correctness is a doctrine fostered by a delusional, illogical liberal minority, and rabidly promoted by an unscrupulous mainstream media, which holds forth the proposition that it is entirely possible to pick up a turd by the clean end."

Congress May Revoke Pensions for Disgraced Members

Boehm said he's heard two arguments against revoking pensions.
"People would say, maybe if they served a long time and did one thing wrong, you shouldn't take away their ability to retire," Boehm said. "The other is: What about his family? What about his wife?
"You could argue the same thing with any criminal," he argued. "If we let everybody with a family commit a felony, we'd have a lot more felons."

Attack on Fathers on the Comic Page
This Sunday’s strip depicted three characters talking about a child of their acquaintance with two mothers. They speculate “Makes you wonder how he’ll do without a male role model in the house.” The visual answer to that an angry, inebriated, misogynist father throwing a TV out the window and swearing at the baseball player.
The comic should be pulled immediately, for these reasons.
1. It wasn’t funny.
2. It was mean.
3. It was anti-male, anti-father hate speech.
If you doubt that, imagine if the images had been reversed: an innocent white male married father confronts an unattractive out of control gay person. The Human Rights Campaign would go ballistic. In my opinion, this comic is reason enough for happily married women to go ballistic at the intentional assault on their husbands.
4. It was in extremely poor taste to run an anti-father cartoon the week before Fathers Day.
Sincerely,
Jennifer Roback Morse, Ph.D.

Red Heat The Movie a little ironic humor.
In the movie Red Heat starring Arnold Schwarzenegger and James Belushi stands out as a superior example of cop-buddy action movies where the cops hate each other but are stuck together as a result of circumstance. In this case, Schwarzenegger plays a Russian cop named Ivan Danko. (This is a perfect role for him since it matches his Austrian accent very well.) Danko arrives in Chicago in the search of an criminal named Viktor Rostavili (Ed O'Ross), who killed Danko's partner and is in America to create a drug pipeline between the U.S. and Russia. Art Ridzik, played by Belushi, is an insubordinate police officer who is assigned to help Danko. Coincidentally enough, Ridzik's partner is killed by Rostavilli's business partners.
Both cops go about bringing Rostavilli to justice in their own ways which are not entirely in harmony. There's a few well-made action sequences and the level of humor in the movie is fairly high, particularly when the two cops make stereotypical comments about each other's country. Movie ram-blings
Red Heat 1988 was on television yesterday.
Schwarzenegger and Belushi in car chasing the drug dealer.
Belushi: Drugs are a problem in Chicago.
Schwarzenegger: In China there are no drug dealers.
All the drug dealers were taken to Teneman Square and shot.
Belushi: We should do that here, but the politicians would never go for it.
Schwarzenegger: Shoot them first. Oops!

Democrats Slice Missile Defense
We only care about our socialist agenda.
The United States doesn't need any enemies.
We have the Jihad wannabes, The Democrats.
The House of Representatives has cut more than $764 million from the administration's proposed spending of $8.9 billion on missile defenses in the next fiscal year.
The development came as no surprise to Capitol Hill watchers who forecast that the Democratic majority in Congress was licking its chops to cut the legs out from under the administration's controversial plans to begin digging silos for 10 interceptors in Poland and ramping-up a tracking radar in the Czech Republic — all cogs in a system to defend Europe against the long-range ballistic missile threat from Iran.

Some $160 million was cut from funds proposed for the construction in Poland — enough to prevent breaking ground on the silos.
Al Qaeda has a new opening graphic for its propaganda tapes: the U.S. Capitol under "attack.""The Islamic State of Iraq...March Toward Washington" reads the headline in English superimposed over a digitally created scene of the U.S. Capitol under attack in the introductory sequence of one tape released on the Internet this week.
Where are you Dems going to hide when the bombs go off?
Note: I was unable to locate the video. It may turn up on YouTube?
Rush quote: "We can put a man on the moon, we can play romantic, classical music for sharks, but we can't find 12 million illegals?"
They should be easy to find.
Start in El Centro, CA travel up Highway 86 sweep through the
Coachella Valley. Should be able to find about half of them.

Bush Releases Classified Bin Laden Terror Plans
President Bush, trying to defend his war strategy, declassified intelligence Tuesday asserting that Osama bin Laden ordered a top lieutenant in early 2005 to form a terrorist cell that would conduct attacks outside Iraq _ and that the United States should be the top target.
The information mirrored a classified bulletin from the Homeland Security Department in March 2005, reporting that bin Laden had enlisted Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, his senior operative in Iraq, to plan potential strikes in the U.S. The warning was described at the time as credible but not specific and did not prompt the administration to raise its national terror alert level.
The declassification of the intelligence came a day before Bush was scheduled to speak about terrorism at the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
Bush, who is battling Democrats in Congress over spending for the unpopular war in Iraq, will argue that the terrorist threat to America is real, said Frances Fragos Townsend, the White House homeland security adviser. She said Bush would talk about why Iraq is an important battleground in fighting terrorism abroad to prevent attacks on U.S. soil and highlight previously reported successes in foiling terrorist attacks.
The Bush White House has intermittently declassified and made public sensitive intelligence information to help rebut critics or defend programs or actions against possibly adverse decisions in the Congress or the courts. On a few occasions, the declassified materials were intended as proof that terrorists see Iraq as a critical staging ground for global operations.
Democrats and other critics have accused Bush of selectively declassifying intelligence, including portions of a sensitive National Intelligence Estimate on Iraq, to justify the U.S.-led invasion on the ground that Saddam Hussein's regime possessed weapons of mass destruction. That assertion proved false.
Obviously the DemocRats don't think 9-11 was justification.
Democrats don't care about the security of this country.
They care only about themselves.
How can anyone continue to vote for these anti-Americans?

Townsend, reading from notes, said the declassified intelligence showed that in January 2005, bin Laden tasked al-Zarqawi with organizing the cell. Al-Zarqawi, the former leader of al-Qaida's Iraq operations, was killed there in June 2006 by a U.S. airstrike.
"We know from the intelligence community that al-Zarqawi welcomed the tasking and claimed he already had some good proposals," Townsend said.

She said that in the spring of 2005, bin Laden instructed Hamza Rabia, a senior operative, to brief al-Zarqawi on al-Qaida planning to attack sites outside Iraq, including the United States. She did not disclose where in the United States those attacks were being plotted.
Around the same time, Abu Fajah al-Libi, a senior al-Qaida manager, suggested that bin Laden send Rabia to Iraq to actually help al-Zarqawi plan the external operations, Townsend said. It is unclear whether Rabia went to Iraq, she said.
She said the information was declassified because the intelligence community has tracked all leads from the information. NewsMax

Bookstore Ghettoes
By Thomas Sowell
IF Rachael Ray had been black, there are bookstores where her cookbook would not be displayed in the same section with all the other cookbooks. It would be displayed off in a special section for black authors.
This means that many people who were looking for cookbooks would not even see Rachael Ray's cookbook, much less buy it.
It's not rocket science, but it seems to have escaped the notice of those publishers who supply racial information on their authors, thereby jeopardizing their books' sales.
Honoring black writers with a special section in bookstores.
Liberal racial profiling. Symbolism over substance.

After their 'Surrender & Retreat' bill was vetoed by President Bush, Pelosi and Reid have nonetheless decided they are going to do everything they can to force President Bush to order our troops to surrender in Iraq.
It is inexcusable and it is time for us to speak out against their shameful conduct!
On Thursday, May 17th at 10:30 AM Pacific Time, we will be conducting "Surrender is Not an Option" protest rallies outside of Speaker Pelosi's San Francisco office and Senator Reid's Las Vegas office.

Christians, Atheists to Debate the Existence of God
Two Christian evangelists and two atheist activists are squaring off in a 90-minute debate about whether God really exists - in a program to be shown on the ABC News website Wednesday afternoon, and an abbreviated version of the event will be broadcast during that evening's edition of the network's "Nightline" series.
"We are very grateful to ABC for taking this courageous step," said Ray Comfort of the Way of the Master Living Waters ministry in a news release regarding the first "Nightline Face Off," which was recorded before a live audience of about 100 people in New York City on Saturday. "As far as we know, nothing like this has ever been done before."
The author of more than 40 books, the New Zealand native claims he can prove the existence of God, scientifically, without mentioning faith or the Bible. "We will prove that God exists."
He is joined in the debate by Kirk Cameron, who is best known for portraying young Mike Seaver in the long-running TV sitcom "Growing Pains." The actor converted to Christianity when he was 17 years old and is currently Comfort's partner in their ministry's television and radio programs. CNS News

"The practical individual of today is a stickler for facts and results. Nevertheless, the twentieth century readily accepts theories of all kinds, provided they are firmly grounded in fact. We have numerous theories, for example, about electricity. Everybody believes them without a murmur of doubt. Why this ready acceptance? Simply because it is impossible to explain what we see, feel, direct, and use, without a reasonable assumption as a starting point."If you think you are an atheist, an agnostic, a skeptic, or have any other form of intellectual pride which keeps you from accepting there is a God,
Everybody nowadays, believes in scores of assumptions for which there is good evidence, but no perfect visual proof. And does not science demonstrate that visual proof is the weakest proof? It is being constantly revealed, as mankind studies the material world, that outward appearances are not inward reality at all. To illustrate:
The prosaic steel girder is a mass of electrons whirling around each other at incredible speed. These tiny bodies are governed by precise laws, and these laws hold true throughout the material world, Science tells us so. We have no reason to doubt it. When, however, the perfectly logical assumption is suggested that underneath the material world and life as we see it, there is an All Powerful, Guiding, Creative Intelligence, right there our perverse streak comes to the surface and we laboriously set out to convince ourselves it isn't so. We read wordy books and indulge in windy arguments, thinking we believe this universe needs no God to explain it. Were our contentions true, it would follow that life originated out of nothing, means nothing, and proceeds nowhere."
I feel sorry for you."

Murder in Black and White
Patriot Post The Digest — Mark Alexander
Channon Christian and Christopher Newsom were described by family and friends as a “clean-cut and faithful couple—good kids.” Channon was a senior at the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, where she met Christopher. She and Chris went out on a Saturday dinner date, after which Channon called her mom and told her that they were on the way to visit friends. But Channon and Christopher never arrived at their friends’ house—or returned home.
The next day, the mutilated and burned remains of Chris Newsom were found along a railroad track. Two days later, Channon’s battered and burned body was recovered from a trash bin. Channon and Chris had been kidnapped after a carjacking, then brutally gang-raped and murdered. According to reports, they were subjected to lengthy torture in each other’s presence, injected with chemical disinfectants to destroy DNA evidence, then strangled and shot.
This appalling attack is more than a case study in sociopathic evil. It is also a case study in journalistic malpractice.
Unless you tune in to the local Knoxville news, you are most likely hearing about this heinous crime for the first time—even though it took place last January. True, there are some 17,000 murders committed in the U.S. each year, but this double murder was clearly far more barbaric, far more monstrous than most.
I spent six years in law enforcement and have seen my share of war-ravaged third-world nations, but the deliberate and abject inhumanity of this case, and what it says about our culture, certainly got my attention. Yet, this story has failed to attract the attention of the national media.
Could it be because the two victims were white and the five defendants are black? Continue
How would the MSM treat this story if the victims were black?
Oh, we already know. Don't we?

National Day of Prayer
Contrary to the plain language of our Constitution and our Founder's counsel that "It is the duty of all Nations to acknowledge the providence of Almighty God..." (George Washington), the federal judiciary and the liberal Godless Democrats has removed virtually every vestigial reference to religion from the public square. That travesty notwithstanding, our nation still formally recognizes a National Day of Prayer each year.Patriots today in prayer for our nation, our national leadership, and especially for our uniformed Patriots standing in harm's way around the world, that we might be able to pray in peace.
